All are undated except for one, dated 1952, which identifies the soldier depicted as "John Broc(co)? in Camp." Many of the subjects do not have any identification. There is one photo of "1st NY(?) Sarg. Mary Moriarty," as well as images of people named Virgil Rector, Grant Mullins, and "Raymond Grapotte, aged 19."

The letter from Franklin, dated December 4, 1941, mentions "the night we were on guard at the beach at Tucuran" and recalls a soldier who died "after we arrived at Cebu."
