The collection contains a form letter requesting payment of alumni membership dues to help fund scholarships for students who need financial support to attend the University. The letter states that the fund currently has just over $400 in available cash and $2000 in notes of nineteen students who have received loans from the fund. Annual membership dues were $1 or $20 for a life membership.

The collection contains portions of a paper written by A. Edward Maumenee on the history of the University of Alabama Medical School with edits and corrections on retyped pages, his 1925 certificate from the American Board of Ophthalmic Examinations, and a letter from his son J. R. "Rob" Maumenee to A. E. "Ed" Maumenee, presumably A. Edward's sons as Rob refers to the handwriting on the papers about the UA Medical School as "Dad's".

The collection contains an autograph album with scripiture and floral illustrations. Although the album bears the inscription (front and back fly leaves) "Mary Iwanna Garnett's Album, Presented by Priscilla D. Kimbrough, February 26, 1871", many autographs inside the album are to Miss P.D.W. (Priscilla D. Willing Kimbrough) and are dated in the mid-1850s. "GW") as well as poetry and speeches presumably written by him in the later part of the nineteenth-century. The front of the ledger is labeled "Cash Account with Confederate States, Maj. G.W.
