From the Collection: This collection consists of signed copies of the 35th Japanese Army's declaration of surrender to US Army forces in the southern Philippines at the end of World War II. One copy is in English and the other is in Japanese characters. There is also a photograph of the actual signing, showing Brigadier General Joseph C. Hutchinsin, Assistant Division Commander and Acting Commanding Gerenal 31st Infantry Division, Brigadier General THomas F. Hickey, Commanding General 31st Division Artillery, Col. John C. Duckworth, Chief of Staff 31st Infantry Division, Technical Sergeant Yoshita Shibata (Jerry), 179th Language Detachment - Interpreter, and Lieutenant General Gyosaku Morozumi, Commanding General 35th Japanese Army.
