Scope and Contents note From the Collection: A letter dated 21 June 1865 to Capt. J. M. Cary of Chunnenuggee, Alabama. Blelock, a publisher in New York, offered "the most liberal terms" for the future literary productions of Augusta Jane Evans (Wilson) (1835-1909), an immensely popular sentimental novelist. What connection there was between the letter's recipient and its subject is not clear; possibly Blelock was writing to Jabez Lamar Monroe Curry (1825-1903), a friend of Evans's.
