Homer Blaine Bledsoe Letter and Photographs, circa 1928-1943

Scope and Contents This collection consists of a letter from Homer Blaine Bledsoe, North Africa, during World War II, to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Bledsoe, Morehead, Kentucky, 14 December 1943.  He writes about receiving their Christmas package and working.  There are seven photographs.  Four are of Bledsoe during World War II, and two are childhood photos of him.

Elbert Nixdorf Letters, 1937 - 1954

Scope and Contents Letters written to Elbert Nixdorf of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, who served in the U.S. Army Special Services during World War II. Some letters are from friends he made while abroad. They discuss daily life, gifts, and request updates on Nixdorf's troop, school work, and friends. One letter from Margaret Clairembourg of Belgium asks for news of Merle, and she hopes that "this war will be soon over, for you as for us!" Many letters are in French and Spanish.

Scope and Contents This collection consists of eleven letters from Wyndham G. Allen, United States Army, during World War II, to his sister, Francesca Allen, in Louisville and Covington, Kentucky. The dates of these letters range from 15 June 1941, to 16 April 1943. He writes about his daily activities, getting a furlough, being in Africa, and missing his family.

Scope and Contents The collection contains V-mail letters to and from Lindsay, who was stationed in the South Pacific during World War II. Most of the letters are written to his sweetheart, Helene Phillips, in New Jersey, but there are a few letters from other friends. They discuss missing home, church services in the jungle, movies, and family.

Verno, United States Army, to his friend, Robert (Bob) Haas, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at Camp Croft and Lake Charles, Louisiana, from 11 December 1942 to 11 December 1944, during World War II. Albert Verno does not state where he is because of the censorship regulations. He mentions that he has been around the islands, writes South Pacific on his last two letters, and was in Australia and Fiji. It sounds as though they met in training....
