Appalachian Mountain Club in Mexico Journal
One journal written by various members of the Appalachian Mountain Club as they traveled through Mexico on a thirty-three-day excursion between February and March 1939. The journal entries are chronologically bound, approximately one page in length each, typewritten, and initialed by the club member writing for the day. The first page includes a list of names and addresses for the members on the excursion.

The collection is 36 5x8” photographs of Charles Betts “C. B.” Waite’s work through urban and rural Mexico during 1904. Scenes depicted are of local laborers, street views including architecture and vendors, Mexican cities, and agricultural scenes. One photograph is of the catacombs of Guanajuato. A few photographs are captioned in Spanish on the print.

Charles Hope Papers
Charles Hope (1763-1851) was a judge and politician in Edinburgh, Scotland. This collection contains a cover letter and memorandum that Hope wrote to another Scottish politician, Henry Dundas, on October 22, 1804, proposing wartime strategies for British commercial advancement in Latin America. The memorandum is titled "Hints as to the Conduct of this Country, in the event of a Spanish war."
