Papers
The collection contains photocopies of the family history of an early northwest Alabama family, one member of whom became mayor of Birmingham in the 1890s. The collection includes personal recollections of the Union Army raid on Tuscaloosa led by John T. Croxton in April 1865, as well as a sketch of the same for a proposed movie script with notes by grandson Alexander Van Hoose Davies. There are also photocopies of memorials of various Van Hoose men, and newspaper clippings.

The collection includes twenty postcards depicting scenes in Cuba in the early twentieth century. The postcards show images of rural life as well as the city of Havana and include images of shark fishing, a boneyard, and a man milking a burro.

Receipts
The collection contains two receipts from Huntsville, Alabama, for groceries in 1916 and 1917. The receipts are possibly for the same person, but because the receipt from W.L. Wall Grocery Co. is made out to J.W. Smith (dated 17 February 1916) and the receipt from F.& O. Gudenrath Wholesale Groceries and Produce is made out to John Smith (dated 13 June 1917), it would be impossible to verify.

This collection contains letters from three U.S. Senators from Alabama to constituents in 1910 regarding the "Telepost Bill" before the 61st Congress. The senators are John Hollis Bankhead, Oscar W. Underwood, and Stanley Hubert Dent.
Notebook
The collection contains the notebook used as a guest book from the first Julia Tutwiler Tea on August 12, 1934, in Doster Hall on the campus of the University of Alabama. The tea, sponsored by the Tuscaloosa Chapter of the Business and Professional Women's Club, celebrated the life of Julia Tutwiler and was the occasion of the presentation of the first Julia Tutwiler scholarship.
