Scope and Contents This file contains one letter written by by Walter M. Voll to Mary Lee Langolf, a neighbor back home in Louisville, Kentucky. Voll was serving on the USS Oklahoma, based in San Pedro, California, at the time. He describes the delays he encountered getting back to the ship at the end of his furlough. He also relates some past experiences they shared.

Scope and Contents This file contains eight letters sent to Ronald H. Davis of the United States Air Force while he was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi. Most of the letters are from his fiance, Jeanne Schroeder, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin. One letter is from his father, Marvin Davis, also in Oshkosh. Another letter is from his sister Donna Davis, of Omro, Wisconsin, and another letter is from his brother William ("Bill") R. Davis, who was stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Scope and Contents This file contains a letter from Hi Allman to a friend named Johnny, written on the USS Bremerton while it was practicing gunnery off Okinawa, Japan, in August 1955. The letter describes the Bremerton's cruise from its departure out of Long Beach, California, on July 14, 1955, to its arrival at Okinawa. The cruise included stopping at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and Yokosuka, Japan, and steaming through a typhoon.

Letters to Joel F. Bledsoe, 1941

Scope and Contents This file contains three letters to Joel F. Bledsoe, in Soldier, Kentucky, from three of the comrades with whom he served from 1901-1904 in Company I of the 27th Infantry Regiment--J. J. Kearns, Lewis Marshall, and Jim Franklin. The letter from Franklin, dated December 4, 1941, mentions "the night we were on guard at the beach at Tucuran" and recalls a soldier who died "after we arrived at Cebu."
