Abstract Collection contains letters written by Ambrose Doss of Jefferson County, Alabama, to his wife, Sarah Brake Doss while he was in Co. C of the 19th Alabama Regiment from the time of his enlistment in 1861 until his death on 1864 July 5 near Kennesaw, Cobb County, Georgia. There is also a letter from Lt. J. W. Letters between Union soldier George Woodard, Company D, Eighth Wisconsin Infantry Regiment, and his fiancee Gene Smith, of Burnett, Wisconsin. Woodard served at the battle of Corinth and the Vicksburg Campaign. He died at a Memphis hospital in 1864.
