The collection contains two late nineteenth century volumes by R. D. Spratt dealing with the history, legends, and language of the Choctaw Indians. While a significant portion of the handwritten ledger deals with the language and vocabulary of the Choctaw, the typewritten bound volume deals mainly with the history and not as much vocabulary. The collection contains three bonds for the "sixteen-hundred and eightieth part" of the company of the town of Demopolis, Alabama. All three bonds are dated 21 April 1819 and are signed by four commissioners of the town of Demopolis.
