This collection contains a paper entitled "The De Luna Expedition" about Spanish explorer Tristan de Luna's establishment of a short-lived colony in what is now Pensacola, Florida, in 1559.

The collection contains a contract making Kate Beatty, a resident of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, a member of the Birmingham Bridal Gift Association. This Association had annual dues and presented brides with a cash gift at the time of marriage.

This collection contains a list of pastors, rules of decorum, the church covenant, and baptism lists, 1838-1904. It also includes an article, “Chronicles of the First Baptist Church,” by Tom Garner, clerk. The material is typescript, but pen and pencil annotations are seen throughout.

A letter dated 12 July 1883, to his sister, Caroline Miller, about examinations of students at Tuscaloosa Female Academy, the examination of the senior class at the University of Alabama, and his recent activities in Tuscaloosa. The collection also contains photograph of Miller copied from the original at the University of Texas Institute of Texas Culture
