Rion Family Album I, 1879 July 17

Scope and Contents One photographic album containing thirty-nine cartes de visite and five tintypes depicting portraits of the Rion family of South Carlolina. The album was given to Willie Calhoun Rion from his mother. An inscription on the first page reads: "Willie Calhoun Rion from his Mother July 17th 1879." Some portraits are identified: Mary C. Rion, Willie Calhoun Rion, Holbrook Rion and Lucy Rion.

The album also includes portraits of General Ulysses S. Grant, General Maury and his family, and an unidentified general. An inscription on the first page reads: "Presented to [] J. Thomas by her Grand [] B. W. [] March 23rd, 1873, Roaring Springs, Ky."
