Scope and Contents

One photographic album depicting an American tanker ship in Santos, Rio de Janeiro, and Montevideo, Brazil, during the 1930s. 58 photographs show the interior and exterior of tanker "Chiloil" as well as street views in various Brazilian locations alongside 23 posctards from Santos, most of which are captioned.

Biographical / Historical

The United States Shipping Board tanker ship named Kehuku was built in Wilmington, Delaware, in 1920. The ship was launched from that shipyard and sailed for a less than a year before returning to dock. In 1926 Kehuku was renamed Chiloil. The Chiloil was retired and scraped in 1947.
