Clarence William Daugette, was born on 14 October 1873, at Bell's Landing, Monroe County, Alabama, to Thomas William and Clara Janet (Rankin) Daugette. That same year, he began teaching science at the Normal School in Jacksonville, Alabama (later to become Jacksonville State University). Daugette was president of Jacksonville State University for 43 years. He died on 9 August 1942.
