Scope and Contents
This album consists of ninety-seven photographs depicting Howard S. Hodson’s service during the World War II in Japan. Howard entered Navy on April 10, 1945, finishing training on June 23, 1945, and arrived in Carolina Island on August 24, 1945 where he was assigned to Group 10 and sailed off to Japan. He was discharged on March 19, 1946. Images are depicting arrival to Yokohama, destroyed Japanese ships, Tokyo, Mount Fuji, arrival to Nagota, Pearl Harbor, postcard formats of scenes from Honolulu, Hawaii, promotional images of San Francisco, and an image of Howard and Kitty from June 2, 1946. Also, part of this album is Howard’s permission to leave the ship for a day, and The Hammarlund Manufacturing Co. Inc. purchasing list of construction materials from February 26, 1960.

Physical Description
Dimensions of this album are 14’’x11’’. Most of the pages are detached from the covers and are brittle. Adhesive tape was used to attach the images to the pages.
