Scope and Contents
Letter from Frances of Sheffield, Massachusetts, to her friend, Mary J. Porter, of Lenox, Massachusetts. Frances tells Mary that she has received an opportunity to go to New Haven, Connecticutt, on her vacation and so will not be coming to visit Mary. The letter is not dated, but was probably written in the early 1850s as the stamp on the envelope (Washington head, 3 cent) was issued between 1851 and 1857.
