Scope and Contents

From the Collection: This collection includes ballots, voting lists, city council minutes, oaths of office, and correspondence related to elections in the town of Pickett Springs, located in Montgomery County. Although items range in date from 1888 to 1920, the bulk of the material is from 1903 - 1906. In addition to the city council documentation there is a map of the area and a photograph labeled "Pickett Springs Park." It is interesting to note that even as late as 1906, elected officials had to sign a "Duelling Oath," swearing that they had not and would not engage, aid, or abet in a challenge with deadly weapons while they were in office.
