Scope and Contents

From the Collection: This collection consists of two letters, dated February 15, 1827, and September 4, 1828, written by Alabama Governor John Murphy to Secretary of State James J. Thornton regarding the filling of judicial vacancies. The latter letter lists several possible candidates and gives the Secretary of State the approval to offer the position to the first one named and so on down the list until the position is filled.
