B. F. McAtee Letter, 1876-01-18
A letter written by B. F. McAtee of Reading, Pennsylvania, to A. O. Hewitt of Bainbridge, Ohio, about his share of the inheritance of Ms. Pepple. He claims to be entitled to 1/7 of her property in the amount of $731 plus interest and gives instructions for settling the estate. A note written on the envelope states that the letter was answered in 1877 with an offer of $375.

Estate Inventory of Elizabeth Vaughn
This collection consists of an estate inventory and appraisal dated July 21, 1862, documenting the personal property of Elizabeth Vaughn of Wilcox County, Alabama. The central component of the inventory is a detailed listing of twenty-two enslaved individuals, recorded by name, age (from one to fifty-five), and monetary value. The inventory was compiled and sworn to by the estate’s administrator, Hardaway Young, and before Justice of the Peace T.W. Price.
