A letter dated 19 November 1859, to his sister in the North while he was building the new Alabama Insane Hospital (Bryce Hospital) in Tuscaloosa. In it Anderson expresses regrets at his inability to provide her with financial assistance and his hopes that he can stay in the South, where his prospects have improved.
