He says he is becoming very "french" in his liking of theater and opera. Although he calls her his "own dear wife" and signs the letter "your old hubby", the envelope is addressed to Miss Watkinson, and it is unclear if they are married.

He also relates that Arthur has been sick, and that he wishes to see Bob when he comes home for Christmas.

Scope and Contents Letter from Edith (Mrs. Walter J.) Towne of Berlin, Germany, to Randy (Mrs. Peter) Merriman of Holyoke, Massachusetts. Edith is apparently on an extended trip to Germany as she says that she has sent in her church contribution covering April 1 - July 1. She also asks Randy to purchase some candy or flowers for a mutual friend's birthday. She ends by saying that she is going to the opera to hear Albert Lortzing's Zar und Zimmermann featuring Heinrich Schlusnus...
