Scope and Contents

The collection contains one Confederate flag (appproximately 17" x 11.5"), one United States flag with 13 Stars (approximately 5.5" x 2.75"), one hand bill with the poem "Lines on the Back of a Confederate Note," and one official cachet of the reunion, which is printed on wallpaper, stamped with a Confederate stamp and cancelled with the Confederate cancellation, then turned inside out and stamped with a United States stamp and cancellation.

This collection contains materials pertaining to the United States Civil War, which took place from 1861 through 1865, collected by Dr. Wade Hall. It consists of textual evidence such as correspondence, diaries, and family papers, as well as various artifacts and a few illustrations. The materials represent individuals and groups from both the Union and Confederate sides of the war.

Civil War Shoe or Boot Remains, 1864 - 1865

Scope and Contents

The collection contains the framed remains of a Civil War era boot or shoe. A typed note is framed with the remains and states that the sole was recovered from a known Union Army trash pit in Nashville, Tennessee, and explains that the Union Army cut up old boots and shoes before throwing them away so that the enemy would not be able to use them.
