Scope and Contents This collection consists of a handwritten memoir titled "Retrospective of the War, of Mitchell's Civil War experiences, both growing up in Indiana and in the Army," which was read to the George W. Lennard post of the Grand Army of the Republic, New Castle, Indiana, on June 14, 1895.
