Biographical / Historical
The New River community lies in the northeast section of Fayette County, Alabama. It is bordered on the southeast by Ford's Mountain and took its name from the New River (Sipsey) that flows through it. It was a thriving farm community and at the time was the only "town" on the road between Russellville and Tuscaloosa.
