Biographical / Historical
Born in Georgia on 8 May 1803, Griffin moved with his family to the area of present-day Montgomery County, Alabama shortly after 1820. He married Alsira Autrey in 1824, and settled in Perry County. They had 15 children, 13 of whom lived to adulthood. In addition to farming, he served as justice of the peace and was active in politics. Bird died in 1883.
