The collection Includes lots of letters between Gilliland and his sweetheart (later his wife), Josie, church materials from Trinity United Methodist Church in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and greeting cards. There are also many photographs (mainly 19th century).

Biographical / Historical
Guy Gilliland, son of Alexander and Mary Gilliland, was born on 30 September 1884 in Dorroh Mill, Pickens County, Alabama. He married Josephine "Josie" Durrett on 15 August 1918 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He was a mail carrier in Tuscaloosa for many years. He died just months shy of his 100th birthday, on 11 March 1984.
