Scope and Contents
The collection consists of one book containing handwritten notes relating to his jobs as a civil engineer for various Southern railroads. Notes include billing and account information, property dimensions, and sketches of tools. Also included is a list of his jobs, beginning in August 1888 in Albany, Georgia, where he worked at a grocery store for $20 a month, to his last job as Chief Engineer of the Georgia & Florida Railway in Augusta, Georgia, making $175 in 1913.

Biographical / Historical
Edward Bancroft Eppes, son of Rev. William Eston and Emily Bancroft Eppes, was born on 23 October 1869 in Marietta, Georgia. He married Jennie Kendall on 1 July 1908; the couple had one son, John Kendall. Eppes attended the University of Georgia where he earned a degree in civil engineering. He worked on various railroad projects in Georgia and various other Southern states. He died in Augusta, Georgia, on 1 July 1918.
