Eborn and Peteet Families papers
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of ten letters, written by Benjamin F. Eborn between 1884 and 1885 to his sweetheart (later his wife), Corinne Peteet Eborn. There are also letters to Corinne from various family members, including her father, W.Y. Peteet, mother-in-law, Bettie Eborn, and her sister, Mary P. Jones as well as a wedding invitation for Mary Peteet’s marriage to Rufus Munroe Jones. There is a letter to Edith from a friend and two miscellaneous letters addressed to “Bro & Sister” and “Mama & Sister.” There are also six “report cards” for Corinne from Livingston Female Academy from 1879 through 1884. There are also five coupon books, issued to Estelle Eborn in 1955 for use in the Bryce Hospital commissary.

Biographical / Historical
Corinne (Corine) Peteet was born in Livingston, Sumter County, Alabama in November 1866. She attended the Livingston Female Academy from 1879 through 1884 . She married Benjamin F. Eborn on 21 March 1885 from her parents’ home in Livingston, Alabama. The couple lived in the Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama area and had four daughters: Edith C. (1887–); Mary L. (1890–); Estelle (1893–); and Lela M. (1894–). Benjamin, born in 1859, died on 20 December 1945.
