Biographical / Historical

Wilhelmine M. Easby, daughter of William and Agnes M. Easby, was born in Washington, D.C. in 1835. She married William Russell Smith, politician and later president of the University of Alabama (1869-1871), on 14 June 1854; she was his third wife. The couple had two children: James S. and William. William Russell Smith died on 26 February 1896 in Washington, D.C.. She died in Washington, D.C. in 1918.
