Scope and Contents

This collection consists of a typescript copy of Black’s autobiography, “After The Fact: 20/20 Hindsight,” copyrighted 1985-86. It covers Black’s youth in Beatrice, Monroe County, Alabama, his upbringing, education, teaching career, and political life in Washington. It was subsequently published in 1987 by the Washington Provider. The collection also contains several clippings of Black’s column “Upward Mobility,” from the Washington New Observer, some correspondence, a resume, and an outline for the autobiography.
