Scope and Contents

This collection consists of thirteen black-and-white photographs depicting a group of Black women enlisted in the Women's Army Auxilary Corp (WAAC) in Des Moines, Iowa. Also included in the collection are two identical newspaper clippings featuring Miriam Wheeler and Herlyne Leonard, and a small booklet about the WAAC created by the Des Moines Chamber of Commerce as a memento.
