Content Description
The collection is made up of 278 color slides, each encased in glass and sealed with tape, that chronicle Sadler's 1961 trip to India and Burma (now Myanmar) with two colleagues. The 35mm slides feature many unusual and interesting Buddhist sites in India and Burma, including close-up views of the architecture and artwork. Some of the places visited by Sadler include: Delhi, Ajanta, Ellora, Nagarjunakonda, Hyderabad, Mahabalipuram, Madras, and Pondicherry in India, and Rangoon in Burma.

Biographical / Historical
Albert William Sadler was born on March 18, 1928, in Brooklyn, New York. He married in 1956 and began teaching at the University of Vermont in 1960. He was a prolific writer, lecturer, and influential scholar of Buddhism and comparative religions. He died in Bronxville, New York, on February 15, 1994.
