Scope and Contents
These minutes begin on page one of a ledger and continue through page twenty-three. Through the years the members discussed issues such as visiting hours, expanding the operating room, controlling patient behavior, and finding a resident physician to work nights and therefore assist with patients in the maternity ward. Minutes show that some of the leading physicians in the city, including Dr. Luther Hill, were members of this board.

Biographical / Historical
The Montgomery City Infirmary Board of Trustees organized the Board of Physicians and Surgeons in 1888. Their first meeting was held March 24, 1888, at the Medical and Surgical Society of Montgomery County office. They elected Dr. J. B. Gaston as their president and Dr. J. R. Jordan as their secretary.
