This ninety-six page journal includes cash ledger entries, transcriptions of letters sent and received by Francis L. Constantine, and recipes. A few letters and newspaper clippings are also included in the collection.

Biographical / Historical
Francis Louis Constantine, son of Dominique Francis and Renee Sainte Baron Constantine, was born in L'Orient, France, on 22 October 1803. He immigrated to the United States at age fourteen and settled in Demopolis, Alabama. He married Clementine Conelia Hamlett on 22 March 1827. The couple had seven children: Dominique Francis; Elizabeth; William Lewis Kosciusko; Clementine; Cornelia Natalie; Francis L.; and Josephine. He died on 21 May 1891.
