The collection contains the first eleven chapters of a 1985 corporate history of the insurance company McGriff, Seibels and Williams, Inc. This 165-page typescript follows the company's development from the founding of its first partner company in 1886 to 1970, and it extensively documents the lives of company leaders. Although this draft was presented to the firm for review, the history was never published.

Headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, McGriff, Seibels, and Williams Inc., is one of the largest insurance brokerage firms in the United States. The company began in 1886 when the firm of Molton, Allen, and Williams, Inc. was founded. Then in 1968, another key predecessor, McGriff, and Seibels, Inc. was founded. The two companies merged in 1982 to form McGriff, Seibels, and Williams. Since 1982, the company has continued to expand, opening offices in Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, St. Louis, and New Orleans.
