Scope and Contents
The collection contains seven letters from Major Charles M. Dragoo to his wife Lois and daughter Sandra Sue in Muncie, Indiana, telling of his arrival and attempts to find housing for the three of them at Fort McClellan Infantry Replacement Training Center in Alabama. According to his letters, housing off-base is in high demand and hard to get. In his first letter he tells them about an item in the local newspaper reporting that a local realtor was jailed for demanding - and receiving - over and above the allowed ceiling price for apartments. He also explains some about the various areas he visits in the fort and what he will most likely be doing there.
