Scope and Contents

The collection contains papers of Bethel Fite, longtime employee of the University of Alabama. Included are newspaper clippings reviews of two of Howell Raines' books, Whiskey Man and My Soul is Rested, as well as an uncorrected proof of My Soul is Rested. There is also a pen and ink sketch by L. W. Nederkorn, inscribed by Nederkorn "To MIss F."

Biographical / Historical

Bethel Fite, daughter of I. B. and Kittie Fite, was born in Mississippi, on December 30, 1910. She worked in the Library at the University of Alabama and has an endowed scholarship for part-time students in the School of Library and Information Studies named in her honor. She died in Tuscaloosa in June 1995.
