Biographical / Historical

Violet Rochelle Wolford, daughter of Charles and Mattie Wolford, was born on April 6, 1899, in Gurley, Alabama. She married Frederick Mitchell Jackson (the F. M. Jackson mentioned in the diary) sometime in 1920. In February 1921, the couple had one set of triplets, two girls and a boy, Frederick Mitchell, III. The two girls died just after birth as a result of being scalded in the hospital nursery(1). Violet died in Birmingham, Alabama, in January 1982.
