Biographical/Historical note
Born in Birmingham, Alabama 1897. Served as an officer in WWI. Received B.S. degree from University of Alabama in 1919. He began his career with an investment security firm which became Sterne, Agee and Leach, where he was president for ? years. He served on board of governors at the Investment Bankers Association of America. He was also a part of the executive committee of Alabama Historical Association for many years, serving as president 1951-1952. He was a longtime trustee of Alabama department of Archives and History. Served on the Horseshoe Bend Battle Park Association and the Alabama Civil War Centennial Commission. Historiographer of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Alabama for 12 years. Long time collector; he donated his collection of rare maps, atlases and other geography related items to the Birmingham Public Library in 1964. He gave his collection of Alabamiana to the W.S. Hoole Special Collections Library in 197? Author of Twenty Alabama Books (Miami, 1975). Died in 1985. [Donald C.
