Biographical / Historical
The Southern Rural Women's Network (SRWN) was co-founded by Billie Jean Young in several American southeastern states in the early 1980s. SRWN focused its efforts around issues facing rural African American women, including education, employment, economics, voter education, and human services, and sought "to develop the leadership potential of rural women and empower them to control their own destinies."
