Biographical / Historical

The Elmore and Bellingrath families have played prominent roles in Alabama history. The most prominent Bellingrath was Walter Bellingrath, who owned the Coca-Cola bottling plant in Mobile, Alabama. The fishing and vacation home his family purchased is known as Bellingrath Gardens, a famous botanical garden in Mobile. Walter's brother, William, owned the bottling facility in Montgomery.

The Elmore-Bellingrath family connection is made through the marriage of Mary Elmore, sister of Stanhope Elmore, Sr., to William Bellingrath.
