Biographical / Historical
Henry Holman Mize was born in 1911 in Tuscaloosa, attended local schools, and received undergraduate, graduate, and law degrees at the University of Alabama. Mize served in the armed forces for 33 years. He served in the Alabama State Senate from 1946-1950, was elected circuit judge in 1966, and was elected by his peers to serve as presiding judge of the Sixth Circuit Court. Mize died in 1971.
James Jefferson Mayfield was born in 1861. He served on the Alabama state supreme court and acted as code commissioner in 1907.
