Scope and Contents
This collection contains mainly materials from Myles Standish's career at NASA's Marshall Space Center in Huntville, Alabama, but also includes material after his retirement in 1981. The materials include newsletters, newspaper clippings, certificates, awards, mementos from various Apollo flights, and a notebook with the house plans for the house Standish built in Lillian, Alabama, after his retirement.

Biographical / Historical
Myles Standish is a native of Arkansas, graduating from high school in Helena-West Helena, Arkansas, in 1948. He was a sonar operator in the United States Navy in the early 1950s, advancing to the rank of Sonarman Third Class. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arkansas and a MS in Engineering from The University of Alabama. He also worked toward a PhD. He met and married Lorraine Repetta in 1958. They had two daughters, Renee Standish Knutsen (1958-2006) and Linda Lee Standish (1960-2005). Standish began working as an engineer at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in 1958, where he was part of the group working with the Apollo Space Program. He retired in 1981. He and Lorraine currently live in Lillian, Alabama.
