Biographical / Historical
Born in Munford, Talladega County, Alabama February 4, 1940. Graduated from University of Alabama, 1962 and then attended University of Alabama law school 1965.
Became a member of the Alabama house of representative 1970-1974, and then a member of Alabama senate 1974-1978. He was elected as Democrat to the United States Senate in a special election November 7, 1978 to complete a longlasting term through January 3, 1981.
