Scope and Contents

These records consist of two series, Administrative Files maintained in the Montgomery Alabama office of NAAL by the director, and Research and Project Reports. The Administrative Files include correspondence, reports, grant applications, handbooks, and other materials documenting the organization and activities of NAAL and of its constituent units. Minutes of constituent units sometimes appear in the records but the minutes of NAAL itself have been deposited with the Alabama Department of Archives and History. Research and Project Reports consist of research files and reports on grant projects conducted by NAAL, primarily related to coordinated collection development.

Collection is open for research. Researchers must register and agree to copyright and privacy laws before using this collection. Manuscript collections and archival records may contain materials with sensitive or confidential information that is protected under federal or state right to privacy laws and regulations. Due to the nature of certain archival formats, including digital and audio-visual materials, access to certain materials may require additional advance notice.

Biographical/Historical note

The Network of Alabama Academic Libraries (NAAL), which was founded in 1984, coordinates the sharing of academic library resources to strengthen graduate education and research activities in Alabama. Its members include twenty academic institutions offering graduate education, six other research libraries, and the Alabama Commission on Higher Education.
