Biographical / Historical

Volunteer artillery company, formed at Tuscaloosa, Alabama, 29 November 1861, under the command of Charles L. Lumsden. The battery spent the early months of the war at Fort Gaines, at the mouth of Mobile Bay, but was subsequently sent to Tupelo, Mississippi following the Battle of Shiloh. It participated in the Kentucky campaign of 1862, and the Chickamauga, Altanta, and Nashville campaigns, 1863-64, before returning to the Mobile Bay area. It surrendered on 4 May 1865 at Citronelle, Alabama.
