This collection consists of a letter, dated 8 October 1841, to John M. Read in Philadelphia, concerning the late Bank of the United States and the power of Congress to grant a charter for it.

Biographical / Historical

Hubbard (1792-1874) was born in Bedford County, Virginia, and served the U.S. Army during the War of 1812. He was a member of the Alabama State Senate, 1827-1828; member of Alabama House of Representatives, 1831, 1842-1845, and 1853. He served in the United States House of Representatives, 1839-1841 and 1849-1851, representing the Second and Fifth Districts.
