Scope and Contents
Records, mostly correspondence of Rabbi Henry A. Fischel (1948-1956), relating to the activities of the Hillel Foundation and its role in student life at the University of Alabama. The collection also contains material regarding the involvement of Alabama Jewry, particularly the Tuscaloosa Jewish community, in the intellectual, cultural, religious and social life of the University.

Biographical / Historical
The Hillel Foundation on the University of Alabama campus was founded in 1934 and is integrated into the University community through its programming, co-sponsored events, and the involvement of the students in other university groups. The Hillel dedicated a new facility on 9th Street not far from major campus landmarks in April 2011.
