Scope and Contents
The collection contains a letter written to the United States Centennial Commission in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Haralson requesting an additional invitation for his wife to attend the opening of the "international exhibition." The Centennial Commission organized the Centennial International Exhibition of Industry, which opened on 10 May 1876, with an attendance of over 150,000 people, including U.S. President Ulysses S. Grant, members of Congress, Supreme Court justices and foreign dignitaries.
