Correspondence - 1850 and January-March 1872
Scope and Contents
This collection includes several letters written by Alice Garnett and her husband, Algernon Sydney Garnett, discussing, among other things, a trip to Tuscaloosa, the hardships of travel, news of the university, its professors and their wives, the election of a new superintendent of education, a rebellion by the University Cadets against the commandant, and his subsequent resignation. There is also a newspaper clipping of a March 24, 1892 notice reporting that Rebecca B. Scott purchased land in Washington, DC(?) from Henry Bradley for $20,000, as well as what looks to be a graduation picture of Alice Evelyn Scott.
